Born and raised right here in Amherst County, Vance occupies a special place in the political history of our Commonwealth. First elected to the House of Delegates in 1978, Vance went on to lead the Republican Party to seize the majority in the chamber in 2000. As a result, Vance was chosen by his colleagues to serve as the first Republican Speaker of the House in Virginia history. Vance continues to do all he can to support our Republican nominees and ensure that conservatives in our area remain active.
