The Amherst County Republican Committee’s Executive Committee is composed of seven elected officers. The current Executive Committee is as follows:
Vance Wilkins, Chairman
Born and raised right here in Amherst County, Vance occupies a special place in the political history of our Commonwealth. First elected to the House of Delegates in 1978, Vance went on to lead the Republican Party to seize the majority in the chamber in 2000. As a result, Vance was chosen by his colleagues to serve as the first Republican Speaker of the House in Virginia history. Vance continues to do all he can to support our Republican nominees and ensure that conservatives in our area remain active.
Joe Cascio, Vice Chairman of Elections
Ginger Burg, Vice Chairwoman of Membership
Ginger is a proud wife and mother of six children, of which her two oldest attended the United States Naval Academy and are still serving our country in the Navy and Marine Corps. Originally a Western NY native where she was also active in politics, she moved to Amherst County in 2015, where one of her daughters attended Sweet Briar College before transferring to Longwood University. Ginger is also our Amherst County Public School at-large School Board member, running on “being your conservative voice,” defeating her Democrat endorsed opponent. She is also an active member of our local NAACP, helping to build a coalition to improve our community. Ginger takes pride in being a grassroots conservative assisting campaigns throughout our great Commonwealth.
Randy Hoilman, Secretary
Randy was raised in Amherst County and attended Amherst County Public Schools. He began apprenticing as an electrician at Sweet Briar College at age 14 and retired from the Glad Plant in Amherst in 2016. He joined the ACRC in 2016, but has supported Republican candidates for most of his life.
Teresa Almond, Treasurer
Teresa is a native of Altavista, VA and has lived all over the country. She returned to the Lynchburg area in 1987 to put down roots and raise her family here in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain area of Virginia. Teresa has lived in Amherst County for 23 years. She has been in real estate for the past 20 years and has extensive sales experience. For 6 years, she traveled as a motivational speaker who taught communication seminars on how to enhance ones expressive and persuasive powers. Upon moving to Amherst County, she joined the ACRC wanting to do her part to help shape the future of our country for her children and grandchildren. She has now served as an officer of the committee for 12 years. Teresa also enjoys tennis, boating, and hiking and has devoted herself to bringing awareness to the needs of abused and neglected children.
Thomas Loftus, Finance Director
Originally from California, Tom was a lawyer in Boston before coming to Virginia in 1988. He and his wife, Dr. Robin Davies, both worked for Sweet Briar College for many years. Tom was a Professor of Business and Robin the chair of their Biology Department. Tom currently works as a grants consultant, while Robin is now employed by Radford University. Both are deeply committed to the values the Republican Party represents.
Chris Tomlin, Director of Communications
Chris attends the University of Virginia where he studies political science and history and seeks to attend law school after graduation. Chris currently serves as president of his University’s College Republicans chapter, has volunteered and interned for a number of campaigns, and works hard to spread conservatism. Recognizing just how crucial it is that the Republican Party attracts more young people, Chris places a high priority on doing just that.
